NOTE: Brampton Music Theatre is raising funds for the The Knight's Table with this presentation. This organization needs our help now and what better way to raise funds and support a great cause. Come enjoy a wonderful evening of entertainment and know you have helped someone in need. Hundreds of Brampton's working poor and homeless will literally not know where their next meal is coming from if the Knights Table does not get financial help from the community, and soon. Ironically, it isn't a lack of food that could close the soup kitchen. It's money for utilities, rent, two paid staff, keeping a vehicle on the road to pick up food donations, and supplies such as dish detergent, take-out containers, napkins and toilet paper that is desperately needed. The Knights Table is not funded by the United Way and does not receive government funding to run any of its programs for they need our help! Please visit the Knights Table website. Lester B. November 11 - Saturday 8pm Los Lobos In Concert Viva! Los Lobos!
This band of four core members from East Los Angeles has been performing for over thirty years bringing joy to the masses through their wonderfully vibrant music. Their music is hard to fit into one genre and is a distinctive fusion of Mexican folk, Texas blues and fifties rock. When the producers of the movie "La Bamba" needed to find someone to re-create a note-perfect rendition of the Ritchie Valens hit they turned to "Los Lobos", and the result was an inspired success that brought the late Valens and Los Lobos themselves to a whole new generation and to the acclaim they so richly deserved. On this evening, come and experience a refreshing burst of music that is both joyous and passionate. Rose Theatre 905 874-2800 More info... |

November 15 - Wednesday 8pm Chantal Kreviazuk In Concert with Special Guest Raine Maida (of Our Lady Peace) Man, this girl can sing This musician/songwriter communicates with a bracing ferocity that leaves the listener wanting more.
Winnipeg's Chantal Kreviazuk's soulful vocal sounds and skilled piano playing have given her North American-wide fame. Yet Chantal's music remains fresh. She has continuously stretched her vocal range, taking daring leaps as a songwriter. Now this multi-talented artist brings her ethereal piano pop to a concert setting, verifying that her range on record is just as strong on stage.
Our Lady Peace frontman Raine Maida will join his wife Chantal Kreviazuk on tour performing a solo opening show.
Chantal's new album "Ghost Stories" was entirely co-written by Chantal and her husband Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace (who also produced the album).
They worked in their own home, sharing a creative space with their dogs and two young children charting new ideas and pecking away at songs during the course of the day before bunkering down to really make progress on the tracks together under the cloak of night. When completed, the album was mixed in studio by Michael Brauer (Coldplay, Bravery, Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley).
Working with her life partner within the walls of their home allowed the album to take shape in an environment of complete openness. Unlike studio sessions where egos can be shielded by the niceties of professional relationships, Chantal knew that Raine was there to tell the truth be it bruising or not. Although occasionally painful to hear, she credits the honesty of this process for ultimately making the record stronger.
"It really is rewarding to be able to work with your best friend," she reveals. "It's something you can't recreate with someone that you are just starting a relationship with. It's amazing, but when people have the level of relationship where they are able to be brutally honest with each other, it hurts sometimes."
"It did get slightly tense once in a while", Chantal admits. "However we have such an amazingly powerful love for each other and we always know that anything we do to/with/for each other comes from a positive place and that helps us make the very best music together." Nov. 16 - Nov. 18 8pm Fiddler on the Roof It's an unusual way to start a musical. A fiddler sits precariously on a roof, scratching out a simple tune, trying his best not to fall off and break his neck. How does he keep his balance? In a word, tradition.
Adults $20, Youth/Seniors $18, Children $16 & Groups $15.
Set in a little village in Czarist Russia, the story follows Tevye, a poor dairyman, as his three oldest daughters marry. Tevye struggles to retain his position as head of the household in selecting his daughters' husbands, but with each daughter, he finds he needs to reevaluate his traditions for his daughters' sake.
As he chooses to change his traditions to reflect a changing society, he needs to endure the objections of his wife, Golde, the matchmaker, Yente, and the townspeople of Anatevka. While the Jews struggle with changing relationships, they also struggle with persecutions and eventual eviction by the Russians. The people of Anatevke find their future is as precarious as that plaintive fiddler on a roof.
And the fiddler does animate this story along with other musicians, supporting such classics as If I Were a Rich Man, Sunrise/ Sunset, and Matchmaker. Winner of eight Tony awards and multiple Drama Desk awards, the show has been an international blockbuster since opening in 1964. Lester B. Pearson Theatre 905-874-2800 More info... |
